Isolated at home, my camera broken, I starting staring at my Epson scanner and contemplated some artworks. I gathered up materials that I might be able to use on my scanner. I certainly did not want to scratch the glass, so I chose soft materials like crumpled plastic wrap. I also thought of ways I might be able to project an image by holding an object above. Besides soft materials, I used a birthday gift of a plastic figure of Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg to create my series. During the experiment, I was amazed by the play of light through plastic, the unique possibilities of my Epson scanner, and the resulting images that gave me more ideas. A photographer since the 1970s, some of my ‘conventional’ known photos are of Julius Eastman, an American composer, vocalist, pianist, and dancer.
Aislado en casa, con la cámara rota, empecé a mirar mi escáner Epson y a contemplar algunas obras de arte. Recogí materiales que podría utilizar en el escáner. Ciertamente no quería rayar el vidrio, así que elegí materiales suaves, como plástico arrugado. También pensé en formas de proyectar una imagen sosteniendo un objeto encima. Además de los materiales blandos, usé un regalo de cumpleaños, una figura plástica de la jueza del Tribunal Supremo, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, para crear la serie.
