This year with all travel plans cancelled I am resigned to be positive and approach the coming months or however our temporary new normal lasts with a positive attitude. I know what makes me happy and I am resolved to focus on being creative. Looking around my studio I became aware of several collections of artistically framed used pigment tubes. These represented past years of completed work and symbolized how much I have painted in recent years. Accepting the present situation, I decided to start with this challenging study of shape, color, and value and create an image that captures recent years of completed paintings. I loved trying to create a texture of shapes and forms that represents hundreds of hours of what I love doing most and remind myself that I am very fortunate to be an artist and actually enjoy this unexpected gift of time we are experiencing.
Este año, con todos los planes de viaje cancelados, me resigno a ser positivo y acercarme a los próximos meses, o a la duración que como sea nos imponga la nueva normalidad, con una actitud positiva. Sé lo que me hace feliz y estoy decidido a centrarme en ser creativo. Mirando alrededor de mi estudio descubrí varias colecciones de tubos de pigmento usados enmarcados artísticamente. Representaban años de trabajo completado y simbolizaban cuánto he pintado en los últimos años. Aceptando la situación actual, decidí comenzar con este desafiante estudio de forma, color y valor y crear una imagen que capturara los últimos años de pinturas terminadas. Disfruté al tratar de crear una textura de formas que representara cientos de horas de lo que más me gusta hacer, y que me recordara que soy muy afortunado por ser un artista y poder disfrutar en verdad de este inesperado regalo del tiempo que estamos experimentando.
