This project is the debut of a local black queer artist collective, Arrogant Fruit; we consist of poets, educators, songwriters, and performance artists. Black Queer Sonoran Gospel is a visual poetic ode to blackness during the Global Coronavirus Pandemic. As black trans and queer folx navigating these times, we are a revolution, we are gunned down and targeted and erased for our blackness too. As black queer trans artists, we are here, writing and documenting our generational civil war for liberation. These are poetic prophecies from those without whom there would be no revolution.
Este proyecto es el debut de un colectivo local de artistas negros queer, Fruta Arrogante/Arrogant Fruit; está formado por poetas, educadores, compositores y artistas de performance. Evangelio negro y queer de Sonora es una oda poética visual a la negritud durante la pandemia mundial del coronavirus. Como personxs negras trans y queer que navegan en estos tiempos, somos una revolución, nos disparan y nos apuntan, y nos eliminan por nuestra negritud también. Como artistas negros trans y queer, estamos aquí, escribiendo y documentando nuestra guerra civil generacional por la liberación. Estas son profecías poéticas de aquellos sin los cuales no habría revolución.
