I started this series of collage and acrylic about a year ago. The series itself was an expression of how women can hide their strength and power beneath the “mask of femininity”. This piece, #8 of the series, I started and completed in April of 2020. I had just gotten back from a trip to South America on March 16th and was rather stunned by what was happening in our ’new normal’. This piece is unique to the rest of the previous paintings in the series. #8 displays a passion for breaking through the emotional barriers that a woman alone during the Covid lockdown is dealing with. We are alone with our thoughts and without the everyday social distractions and pleasures of the previous world. We deal with a multitude of memories and emotions… We meditate and find our own contentment within ourselves, and our feminine strength still shines through and gives us the will to continue on.
Comencé esta serie de collage y acrílico hace aproximadamente un año. La serie en sí misma fue una expresión de cómo las mujeres pueden ocultar su fuerza y poder bajo la “máscara de la feminidad”. Esta pieza, # 8 de la serie, la comencé y terminé en abril de 2020. Acababa de regresar de un viaje a Sudamérica el 16 de marzo y estaba bastante sorprendida por lo que estaba sucediendo en nuestra “nueva normalidad”. Esta pieza es única comparada al resto de pinturas de la serie. # 8 muestra una pasión por romper las barreras emocionales con las que se enfrenta una mujer sola durante el encierro del Covid. Estamos solos con nuestros pensamientos y sin las distracciones sociales y los placeres cotidianos del mundo anterior. Nos enfrentamos a una multitud de recuerdos y emociones … Meditamos y encontramos nuestra propia satisfacción dentro de nosotros mismos, y nuestra fuerza femenina aún brilla y nos da la fuerza para continuar.
