I started this painting when I was taking a program at Damahur, an artist community in the foothills of Northern Italy. They are famous for their Temples of Humankind. I finished the painting when I returned from Italy before COVID really started to show its power to end business-as-usual. I had an intuition that overseas travel and burning CO2 would be a thing of the past. COVID-19 appeared in this work before I saw a picture of the scientific evidence of it.
Empecé a pintar cuando estaba haciendo un programa en Damahur, una comunidad de artistas en las estribaciones del norte de Italia. Son famosos por sus Templos de la Humanidad. Terminé la pintura cuando regresé de Italia antes de que COVID empezara a mostrar su poder para acabar con la vida cotidiana. Tuve la intuición de que los viajes al extranjero y la quema de CO2 iban a ser cosa del pasado. COVID-19 apareció en este trabajo antes de que viera un cuadro de la evidencia científica de ello.
